LOCAL RESTAURANTS
Boston Restaurants
Mistral
Mistral is one of Lauren and Zach's favorite restaurants. This fancy spot includes some of Lauren and Zach's favorite dishes and has been the location of some of Lauren and Zach's favorite celebrations.
Eataly
Every Italian food item you can imagine PLUS a little word play in the name of the spot? How can you go wrong. Located in the bustling Prudential Center, Eataly is an indescribable Italian marketplace meets restaurant meets shopping experience. Worth exploring but try to snag a reservation if looking to sit down for a meal!
Top of the hub
Even for those desperately terrified of heights (see: Zach) the Top of the Hub provides a breath-taking perspective on the wonderful city. While maybe not the world's best food the experience makes it a worthwhile visit. (see: (below) the Skywalk Observatory for a similar look at the city).
SWEETGREEN
Zach and Lauren spend too much of their money at this little salad/bowl shop interspersed throughout the city. This is a perfect lunch spot for an on-the-go tour of the city. Order ahead of time on the app if you can - because the lines to get your food can get crazy! Zach's favorite salad (Spring Item, so may not be available) the Fish Taco Bowl or the Guacamole Greens salad. Lauren's favorites: you name it, she loves it.
STEPHANIE'S ON NEWBURY
Stephanie's on Newbury is one of the few restaurants Lauren and Zach loved before they got together 8ish years ago. Featuring a fun atmosphere, great drinks, delicious brunch and truffle fries, Lauren and Zach have ended up Stephanie's on more than one occasion and highly recommend it to all!
LOLITA'S
Lolita's, a place arguably too cool for Zach, features great drinks, tasty bites, and a full menu until 11 PM. Don't let the skull logo scare you off, it is only ACTUALLY a biker bar from 4-6 PM Tuesdays and Thursdays.
YVONNE'S
Rapidly becoming Lauren and Zach's favorite restaurant, Yvonne's features a hip, trendy small plate menu coupled with delicious drinks and wine, with some of the most knowledgable wait staff and bartenders in the city. This is the restaurant that Zach and Lauren chose to celebrate immediately after moving in together.
Activities
Boston Duck Tours
Tour Boston by land and water in Boston's famous Duck Tour boats. While out of towners may be tired of seeing Boston's Duck Boats in our seemingly annual sports championship parades, this is an experience that is not to be missed! QUACK QUACK! http://www.bostonducktours.com/
The Boston Museum of Science/ The Mugar Omni Theater
Check out this world renowned museum of science - fun for all ages! https://www.mos.org/
The Freedom Trail
To any and everyone, but especially history buffs, enjoy this two-and-a-half mile "walk into history" along the Freedom trail. It is one of the best ways to see Boston's historic landmarks on foot and can help you brush up on your knowledge of the American Revolution. The famous tour takes you through the Boston Common, Faneuil Hall, Bunker Hill Monument, and the USS Constitution to name a few. http://www.thefreedomtrail.org
Sam Adams Brewery
It's no secret... Bostonians like their beer. While Samuel Adams will forever be known as the regions second-best Patriot (behind Thomas Edward Patrick Brady, Jr.) he is most recognized today as a brewer of beer. Tour the Sam Adams Brewery in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston for a glimpse at the craft brewery's beer-making process and a sample of the finished product. https://www.samueladams.com/
Harpoon Brewery
Harpoon provides another wonderful foray into Boston's beer scene. While the brewery itself may feel more corporate and refined than Sam Adams, their variety of beer and of fresh-made-hops-infused soft pretzels, make a visit to this brewery more than worthwhile. https://www.harpoonbrewery.com
Museum Of Fine Art
And now for a little non-beer culture...head over to the world-renowned MFA. Gaze at the masterpieces of Mozart, Rembrandt, and Van Gogh to name a few. If art if your thing, you'll love the MFA's incredible collection of art from various times and cultures. Watch this space as we are trying to put together MFA tours for any/all of our guests! www.mfa.org
Please contact Veronica Heath (veronicaheath@comcast.net), mother of the groom and Museum Docent, for free MFA passes.
Harvard Square
Come pahk ya cah in Hahvahd Yahd. Actually, it makes more sense to take the T or a cab, but it is fun to say isn't it? This is the place where the intellectuals hit the books, Matt Damon inquires about Apples, and Mark Zuckerberg writes on windows. Additionally, Harvard Square has delicious eateries, cool shops, gorgeous architecture, and many culturally important attractions. http://www.harvardsquare.com/
Lexington and Concord
"The out of town guests are coming! The out of town guests are coming!" - Paul Revere/Zach Heath
If you have never seen the battlefields that helped shape our nation, we recommend you visit the numerous Revolutionary War sites in Lexington/Concord, only 20 minutes outside of downtown Boston. And if you happen to be in Lexington, you may want to check out a farmstand named Wilson Farm...
Every weekend in the fall (10 am to 5 pm), Wilson Farm makes their own delicious caramel apples and apple cider donuts. Get them while they’re hot! And lucky for you, the Farm’s 4th annual Hay Maze will open Saturday, October 6th with over 1,400 bales of hay.
Skywalk Observatory
The best vantage point in the city, for breathtaking views of Boston and beyond! Enjoy sweeping, 360 degree views of Beantown from the sky high observatory. Purchase tickets in the Skywalk Observatory Kiosk located in the Prudential Center Arcade. Even Zach, who is scared of heights, recommends this stop! skywalkboston.com/
The North End
While Zach would tell you to just go to Mario's in Lexington Center, if you want authentic, delicious Italian food in a historic, brickladen neighborhood, than this is the area for you. Filled with history and tastiness, you cannot go wrong with an Italian sub from Monica's, a slice from Ernestos, a cannoli from Mike's Pastry, a cappucino at Caffe Vittoria, or an oyster from Neptune Oyster bar. www.northendboston.com/
Fanueil Hall
Fanueil Hall oozes classic Boston feel as it's four buildings: Fanueil Hall, Quincy Market, North Market, and South Market make for a lovely place to visit, to shop (typically overpriced, but fun to look at no-less), and to eat. Fanueil Hall has long been an important political stronghold in Massachusetts, where the above-mentioned once advocated for the need to resist the British tyranny (sorry Spragues/Templetons). More importantly, the Great Hall at Fanueil Hall was the host to the swearing in to become attorney ceremonies of Lauren and Zach in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
